Until now, transporting goods to mountainous areas has meant either navigating narrow mountain roads or relying on expensive helicopter flights. In the future, drones could take over many of these tasks, offering a faster, more flexible, and more cost-effective alternative. The Canton of Uri aims to be at the forefront of this development.

Switzerland’s first drone testing site has opened in Amsteg, in the Canton of Uri. There, drones are being tested under real alpine conditions for applications such as cargo transport and search and rescue operations.
